Monaghan Therapy Clinic – Terms and Conditions for Counselling & Psychotherapy Services

Welcome to Monaghan Therapy Clinic’s website. By accessing and using our services, you agree to comply with the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before proceeding.

  1. Client Data and Records

We collect personal data for our records, which is securely stored using encryption software. Your data will not be shared with third parties except as required by court order or subpoena. All records and data related to your counseling and psychotherapy sessions are the property of Monaghan Therapy Clinic.

  1. Commitment to Therapy

Engaging in therapy requires your commitment to attend appointments on time, actively participate in sessions, and understand that therapy may involve challenging emotions. We uphold a respectful environment, and any threatening or abusive behavior towards our therapists will result in session termination and full session cost liability.

  1. Client Responsibility

You are responsible for your actions, decisions, and behavior during, between, and after therapy sessions. Engaging in counseling/psychotherapy with Monaghan Therapy Clinic signifies acceptance of the terms of use, confidentiality, and security policy.

  1. Release and Indemnification

By accepting these terms, you release and indemnify Monaghan Therapy Clinic from legal actions, litigation, suits, and claims arising from our counseling and psychotherapy services.

  1. Online Video, Telephone, and VOIP Counselling

Ensure a suitable interruption-free environment for online sessions. Use headphones with built-in speakers to minimize noise. You are responsible for your electronic equipment and internet connection’s suitability. We are not liable for losses due to technical issues.

  1. Security & Confidentiality

You are responsible for your computer’s security, confidentiality during sessions, and refraining from malicious activities on our website. Confidentiality may be breached if criminal activity, child abuse, or threats to safety are disclosed. Your identity remains confidential.

  1. Rescheduling Appointments

You can reschedule appointments with at least 48 hours’ notice. Missed or late cancellations incur the full session cost.

  1. Appointments & Payment

Appointments require pre-payment, and major credit cards are accepted.

  1. Client Contract

By using our services, you agree to:

  1. Not use the service for self-harm or harm to others.
  2. Understand limits to confidentiality.
  3. Obtain consent for recording or publishing materials.
  4. Comply with your country’s laws.
  5. Acknowledge the confidentiality policy and terms of use.
  6. Interact with your therapist only during appointments.
  7. Disclose medical history and medications.
  8. Make advance payments.
  9. Understand Monaghan Therapy Clinic’s limited liability.
  10. Acknowledge therapy outcomes aren’t guaranteed.
  11. Confirm you are over 18 years old.
  12. Recognize Monaghan Therapy Clinic’s limited responsibility for technical issues.
  13. Seek legal advice if unsure about this agreement.

   11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland.

By accepting these terms and conditions, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms outlined above.


Monaghan Therapy Clinic – Client Contract for clients engaging in Counselling & Psychotherapy

By accepting the terms and conditions of use I agree to the following conditions.

1. I have been advised that this service is not suitable if I intend to kill myself or harm/kill other people. I accept that Monaghan Therapy Clinic does not provide an emergency service and agree that I will contact the emergency services/Hospital immediately and inform that I am thinking of killing myself or harming other people.


2. I understand that what I discuss with my therapist will remain confidential apart from the following exceptions:

  • If I intend to harm myself or another person.
  • If a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of sexual, physical, psychological abuse or neglect.
  • If I inform my therapist of criminal activity or terrorism is revealed.
  • If ordered to by court order or subpoena.


3. I agree not to record or publish any material, which includes e-mails, telephone calls or video therapy sessions without the prior written consent of Monaghan Therapy Clinic.


4. I accept that I am responsible for checking that the laws in my country of residence permit the use of this service.


5. I have read the policy on confidentiality, security and the terms of use and understand their implications.


6. I accept that the only contact they will have with their therapist is during scheduled appointments.


7. I agree to disclose honestly my medical history and all current medications.


8. I understand that this is not a free service and that all sessions are subject to payment in advance.


9. I accept Monaghan Therapy Clinic cannot be held liable for any actions committed by me against myself or others.


10. I accept and understand that Monaghan Therapy Clinic does not make any guarantee that I will feel better or be cured by attending therapy.


11. I confirm that I am over 18 years of age.


12. I accept that Monaghan Therapy Clinic cannot be held responsible for any failure of my electronic equipment or internet/broadband connection that prevents me from accessing therapy.


13. I acknowledge that I should seek legal advice before agreeing to these terms and conditions if I am unsure of any aspect of this agreement.
